How Could a Beer Commercial Go So Wrong?!?
Somebody forgot to look up the demographics of their most profitable customers.
The 20% that makes up 80% of sales.
In case you missed it (ICYMI), a new(?) marketing(?) manager(?) was
tasked with improving sales of Bud Light.
She wanted the brand to be more “inclusive” and thought that would
inspire more people to drink Bud Light.
The market segment she chose was [what would you call it?] and
represented by a man named Dylan Mulvaney who was recently
celebrating his/her one year of being a girl.
Well… America voted.
No ballot stuffing or insurrection…
Bud Light’s self-destruction after its botched TikTok promotion with clownish,
male-to-female trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney, resulting in what Deutsche Bank
analyst Mitch Collett recently said is a permanent loss of nearly 25% of its business!

Anyway, a catastrophe!
And certainly, nothing most of us could afford!
I’m sure there’s a politically correct-sounding agenda of inclusion,
but they failed to do the math. Especially for their business.

And common sense.
This new demographic to expand the market of Bud Light drinkers
turns out to be all of 0.6% of our population. That comes nowhere even close to putting a dent in the 20:80 rule.
They would have done better promoting to women with goldfish!

Effect on Current Customers?
Another issue few marketing people seem to consider is their current
customer base and how they might react to a promo like this.
(For Bud Light – Not so well.)
