By the author of Business Black Belt, the book on mindful business management.
Some days are better than others.
Some days it seems that nothing works.
Some would say that Mercury is in retrograde.
(I don’t even know what that means!)
What do you do when nothing is working?
Many people would tell you to do something different,
because doing same thing over and over again and expecting
a different result is the definition of insanity.
You’ve heard this before.
But if one were to review one’s own patterns in life,
it may become apparent that the above is easier said than done..
What do you do when nothing is working?
As they say in Texas, I’m told, “When you’re in a hole, stop digging!”
Just because you may not know what you should do or where you should go instead doesn’t mean you should continue doing what you’re doing or start grabbing at straws…
Like the Vietnamese monk, Thich Nhat Hahn, says,
“Don’t just do something, stand there.”
The answer is in the very statement of the problem: “Nothing is working.”
So… Do nothing.
That is, afterall, the only thing that is working!
You’re not a shark, you don’t have to keep swimming.
Just stop.
Breathe.
Just stop what you’re doing and look around.
You may even want to take the rest of the day off.
Doing nothing is working afterall.
Give yourself some time to catch up…
Get your bearings.
Where are you really?
Where do you want to go from here?
(Is Mercury still in retrograde?)
I hope you found this bit of Business Black Belt wisdom useful!
